Development: Language
The choice of a language is extremely important. We have the following criteria in choosing a language to use:
- The system must use a free, open source, language. This provides for easy extension of the language should we need to.
- The language must be in fairly wide spread use, to more easily attract new developers.
- The language must tie into the chosen platform and support easy access to the chosen database.
The choice of a language has not yet been chosen, but has currently been narrowed to: perl, php, python, ruby, and java.
